Club History

The Club was formed in 1960 by the late Tommy Whiteside and the late Bertie Faulkner and played its first match on 20 August 1960. It was known then as Lisburn Mills. The team played firstly at Lurganure Road, Maze and then mainly at Barbour Playing Fields in the County Down.

The first match was a local derby against Wesley FC and the team lost 8-0

The club moved to the Bog Road in 1994 and the name was changed to Lower Maze FC in 1996.

The First team currently play in the Daily Mirror Mid-Ulster Intermediate A Division 1 league.

The Second team currently play in the Daily Mirror Mid Ulster Reserve Division 2 league.

In 2007-2008  the club , under the management of Tom Neill and captained by Glen Walker achieved promotion to mid ulster intermediate A division 1 as Champions of Intermediate B , as well as retaining the Alan Wilson Cup that they had won the previous year to secure a fantastic double.

The start of the 2007-2008 season also seen the formation of the junior section of the club , After a break away within the Lower Maze Youth Football Club, an approach was made to Lower Maze FC ( note , Lower Maze FC and Lower Maze Youth FC , are different clubs ) which seen Lower Maze FC Junior Section formed. Initally with two teams and just 26 boys the Junior section continues to grow , and currently has over 80 boys aged 6 - 13 registered.

The Junior section continues to progress and has had individual success at present with boys previously achieving Player of the month and higgest Goalscorer of month awards in their given leagues
